A little about me
Mr. Rivera
I started my undergraduate education at Sonoma State University and completed my bachelor's degree at California State University at Hayward. I received my bachelors in British and American Literature with a minor in music. For my teaching credential, I went to National University where I received my multiple subject teaching credential with a single subject emphasis in both English and music. In addition to studying standard teaching methods, I took some master's courses in teaching children's literature.
I am very pleased to be teaching my eighteenth class here at Mission Valley Elementary School. I have worked with Fremont Unified School District since 1998, my first three years as a substitute teacher for grades kindergarten through grade twelve at schools throughout the district. I have been at Mission Valley Elementary since August of 2002. For eight years, I taught a straight sixth grade classroom. For four years, I had the pleasure of teaching a 5-6 combination class.
I like having an open door policy with families and I am easily reached by e-mail (mrivera@fusdk12.net) or by dropping in to have a conversation; as long as I am not on my way to a meeting, I'm available after school to talk.
